Design and Production Services
We work closely with Industry leading design teams to create unique residential wallcovering collections using a variety of current and traditional printing methods.
- Gravure Printing: Gravure printing uses an engraved chrome cylinder to transfer the image to paper. The recessed image collects ink and is absorbed by the paper as it passes over the cylinder. Color depth is determined by the depth of the engraving - the deeper the color desired, the deeper the engraving and the more ink transferred.
-
Surface Printing: This technology was developed in the early 1900s and provides a very unique look to printed wallpaper. Surface machines apply very heavy amounts of ink using wood or aluminum rollers. Because of the heavy lay down of ink, the patterns are not as crisp as Gravure but provide a very unique and distinctive look.
-
Flexographic Printing: "Flexo" is an updated version of the surface printing technique and uses hardened rubber cylinders in place of the wood and aluminum surface rollers. Each roller has a raised image to transfer the ink to paper allowing for a more exact image.
